The calculator uses the Mifflin–St Jeor equation.

Men BMR = (10 × weight in kg) + (6.25 × height in cm) − (5 × age) + 5
Women BMR = (10 × weight in kg) + (6.25 × height in cm) − (5 × age) − 161

Step 2: Adjust for Activity

Estimated daily calories = BMR × activity factor

Understanding Activity Levels

Choosing the correct activity level is important. Many people unintentionally overestimate their activity, which can make a calorie estimate significantly higher than their actual needs.

This remains an estimate rather than a guarantee that exactly 2,391 calories would maintain that person's body weight.
