The standard adult Recommended Dietary Allowance for protein is 0.8 grams per kilogram of body weight per day.

How Many Calories Are in Protein?

Standard nutrition calculations assign approximately 4 calories to each gram of protein.

Protein Calories = Protein Grams × 4

For example, 100 grams of protein corresponds to approximately 400 calories from protein.

How the Per-Meal Protein Estimate Works

The calculator can divide your daily protein result evenly by the number of meals you select.

Daily Protein ÷ Number of Meals = Average Protein Per Meal

This does not mean every meal must contain exactly the same protein amount. It is simply a convenient planning calculation.
